ORDERING AND SHIPPING

We ship worldwide. If you don’t see your country at checkout, just send us an email — we’ll help you out from there.

Yes, absolutely — but please be quick! We usually dispatch orders within 12 hours, so if you need to make a change, just email us at mail@arcticsammy.co.nz as soon as possible.

We’ll do our best to catch your order before it ships. If it’s already been packed or collected, we can still help you with an exchange or return.

As soon as your order is dispatched, you’ll receive an email with a tracking link so you can follow its journey. If you haven’t received that yet, your order is likely still being prepared — most items (including custom engraved tags) ship within 24 hours.

If it’s been longer or you’re unsure, feel free to contact us at mail@arcticsammy.co.nz and we’ll be happy to check the status for you.

We usually ship all orders within 24 hours, even custom-made ID Tags.

Here’s a general guide for delivery times:

  • New Zealand: 1–3 business days
  • Australia (DHL Express): 3–5 business days
  • Australia (NZ Post): 10–12 business days
  • Other Countries: 10–12 business days (sometimes a bit longer if held up in customs)

You’ll receive a tracking link via email as soon as your order ships, so you can follow its journey to your door.

You can track your order here!

First, track your order here and check the current courier status.

If your order is marked as “delivered” but hasn’t arrived, please wait 1–2 days — sometimes NZ Post scans items early, and they usually turn up shortly after.

If you’re in Australia and your DHL tracking shows the parcel as “delivered” but it hasn’t arrived, it usually means the parcel has been handed over to a third-party courier for final delivery. From there, it typically takes just a few more days to reach you.

Still no sign of it? Feel free to reach out to us at mail@arcticsammy.co.nz and we’ll help sort things out for you.

RETURNS

Absolutely — it’s as easy as ordering it in the first place!

If you chose the wrong size, aren’t loving the colour, or simply changed your mind, just head over to our Resolution Center. It’ll guide you through all the steps, and we’ll take care of the rest from there.

Sometimes we run special promotions with extra-big discounts, and these may be excluded from exchanges or swaps. If that’s the case, you’ll find a note on the product page just underneath the Add to Cart or Checkout button.

You can return your items up to 30 days after delivery. Just head to our Resolution Center, and we’ll guide you through the process from there.

In most cases, no — items need to be unused, free of fur, and have all labels still attached in order to be eligible for a return.

That said, if there are special circumstances, feel free to reach out to us at mail@arcticsammy.co.nz and let us know the story — we’re always happy to take a look and see what’s possible.

Yes — sale items can still be returned, as long as they are unused, in original condition, and returned within 30 days of delivery.

However, clearance items (such as end-of-line stock with steep discounts) may be excluded from returns or exchanges. If that’s the case, you’ll see a clear note under the Add to Cart or Checkout button on the product page.

Yes you can!

Wash the rope by hand using warm water and mild soap. Swish it around thoroughly, then drain the dirty water. Repeat the process until the water runs clean. Hang the leash to dry completely before using it again.

Can you think of anything stronger for a leash other than metal or diamonds? Probably not — and that’s exactly why we use climbing rope.

Climbing rope is designed not to fail — because failure in its original purpose would mean disaster for the climber attached to it. That makes it one of the most reliable materials you could ever trust to hold your dog.

Not only is it incredibly strong, but it’s also:

  • Weather Resistant: It doesn’t absorb much water
  • Mildew-proof: It won’t grow mould or weaken over time
  • Comfortable: It’s soft, flexible, and easy on your hands — even with strong pullers
  • Good Looking: Let’s be honest, it just looks badass.

In short? It’s gear you can count on, no matter the adventure.

Safety is everything to us — especially when it comes to gear for your dogs.
All our leashes, collars and harnesses are strength tested using an tensile strength testing machine before we ever release them for sale. In simple terms: we take our gear and stress-test it until it breaks, so you don’t have to. We test every component — from the rope or webbing itself to the carabiners, hardware, and stitching.

Every product is designed to handle serious pulling power and withstand rugged, real-world use. Whether you’ve got a small dog or a strong puller, you can trust our gear to hold up under pressure.

If you’d like to know the exact break load of a specific leash or collar, feel free to email us at mail@arcticsammy.co.nz — we’re always happy to chat gear!

Yes! We only use aluminium and stainless steel fittings and carabiner for our leads and collars which are rust free and extremely durable. While we use rust-resistant materials wherever possible, salt water is incredibly corrosive and can eventually affect any metal over time, especially if it’s not rinsed off.

To help your gear last as long as possible, we highly recommend giving it a quick rinse with fresh water after any beach adventures, and then letting it dry completely before storing it. This simple step makes a big difference in keeping everything looking great and functioning well for the long haul.

Yes — we’re happy to make custom length leashes and other personalised gear just for you.
Whether you need something shorter for close control or longer for adventures and training, just send us an email at mail@arcticsammy.co.nz with your idea. We’ll chat it through with you and let you know what’s possible.

Not at the moment. Because we use heavy-duty, adventure-ready materials across our range, most of our gear is designed for small to large dogs — but not for toy breeds like Chihuahuas. We’ve found it challenging to scale down the components without compromising on safety, comfort, or function.

We’ll be sure to let our community know if that ever changes!

You’re not alone — some dogs feel nervous or unsure around new gear, especially harnesses or collars. The good news is, with a bit of patience and the right approach, most dogs can learn to feel comfortable and even excited to wear their gear!

Reach out to us at mail@arcticsammy.co.nz and we’ll send you the full guide and help you tailor the process to your dog’s specific needs. We’re always happy to support you and your pup through the journey.

WARRANTY

Our gear is designed to last — as long as it’s used as intended. That means using it like any other dog gear: for walking, training, hiking, and everyday adventures.

Chewing is not covered.

As all dog owners know, if a dog sets their mind to it, they can chew through anything — even the toughest materials. If an item has obvious signs of chewing, unfortunately, that falls outside normal use and won’t be covered under our warranty.

Exclusions:

Our Silicone Dog ID Tags and LED Lights are not covered under our lifetime warranty.

If you’re ever unsure whether your item qualifies, just reach out — we’re always happy to take a look.

Yes — and we always try to repair first before replacing anything under our lifetime warranty. It’s part of our commitment to reducing waste and keeping gear out of landfill.

Even if your dog chewed it, we’re happy to help. All repairs are completely free of charge — just send us a message at mail@arcticsammy.co.nz with a photo and a quick note about what’s happened, and we’ll get it sorted for you.

ABOUT US

Almost all of them! Our leashes, collars, keyrings, and ID tags are proudly handcrafted in Christchurch, New Zealand. We focus on durability, quality, and functionality — all made with care.

We also source our materials locally wherever possible to support other New Zealand businesses. Plus, we’re officially registered under the NZ Made certification, so you can trust our gear is genuinely homegrown.

The Healing Paws Program is our way of giving back to the incredible people running underfunded rescues and shelters across the globe. It’s simple but impactful: we donate $1 NZD for every order placed.

On top of that, our customers can now add a personal donation at checkout, helping to grow the total impact. These contributions are combined and sent to a different rescue or shelter every few months — allowing us to support as many organisations as possible.

Why we do it:

Every dollar raised goes toward critical needs like medical treatment, food, shelter supplies, and transport — helping rescue dogs locally and around the world get the care and second chance they deserve.

Together, we’re making sure that no dog is left behind. 💛

Arctic Sammy was inspired by our own dog, Loki — a fluffy, adventure-loving Samoyed (or “Sammy” for short). Samoyeds are part of the Arctic dog breeds, known for their resilience, strength, and playful spirit.

Put the two together — and that’s how Arctic Sammy was born.

SUSTAINABILITY

At Arctic Sammy, sustainability isn’t just a feature — it’s the foundation of everything we do.

1. Built to Last

The most sustainable product is one that doesn’t need replacing. That’s why we focus on making ultra-durable, long-lasting gear that keeps up with your adventures — and out of landfill. The longer your gear lasts, the better for the planet (and your wallet).

2. Low-Waste Shipping and Packaging

We keep packaging to a minimum and only use eco-friendly, recyclable materials like kraft paper and compostable mailer bags — no plastic, no excess. Most packaging is printed in-house, so we only produce what’s needed, when it’s needed.

3. Local Sourcing

Wherever possible, we choose New Zealand-made materials and work with local suppliers to cut down transport emissions and support other small businesses.

4. Smarter Transport

We reduce our carbon footprint by driving less, using fuel-efficient vehicles, and consolidating trips whenever we can.

5. Thoughtful Materials

Our gear is made with non-toxic materials from environmentally responsible suppliers. We choose quality over convenience, always.
